How Does the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Fair Against the Competition?

Many in the Schenectady area choose to drive the new Subaru Crosstrek because of its balance between a larger SUV and a smaller car. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with more versatility and adventurous utility while also benefiting from agile driving and improved fuel economy. At Capitaland Subaru, we serve Clifton Park and beyond by offering the latest Subaru models, which includes a diverse selection of new Crosstrek models.

Even with the 2019 Crosstrek delivering a well-rounded driving experience and highly sophisticated features, it isn't the only subcompact SUV vying for the top spot. We look at key aspects of the new Crosstrek and its competition so that you have a clearer idea of which will suit you best.

2019 Crosstrek vs. Toyota CH-R

  • Safety

Even with the CH-R's standard safety suite, when it comes down to it, it doesn't match up to the Crosstrek. When properly equipped, the Crosstrek is named a 2019 IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus while the CH-R doesn't qualify for a top safety rating.

  • Performance

The CH-R and the Crosstrek both come with 2.0-liter DOHC engines. However, the Crosstrek delivers 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque while the CH-R offers 144 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque. This difference in power can make all the difference when you find yourself merging and passing in the Clifton Park area.

  • Smartphone Integration

Drivers in the Ballston Lake area will find that the CH-R doesn't offer Apple CarPlay® on the base trim level, and Android Auto™ isn't available at all. The Crosstrek comes with standard Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® on all its trim levels.

2019 Crosstrek vs. Honda HR-V

  • Multimedia

The HR-V comes with a standard 5-inch LCD color screen, but the Crosstrek offers a standard 6.5-inch high-definition touchscreen. Burnt Hills drivers will also have to pay extra for a higher trim level if they want Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, but they come standard for the Crosstrek.

  • Performance

The Crosstrek has the advantage over the HR-V with 152-horsepower engine against the HR-V's 141-horsepower engine. The Crosstrek also comes with features like Active Torque Vectoring and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard.

  • Interior

The Crosstrek offers more passenger volume than the HR-V, making for a more spacious and comfortable cabin.
